[edit]
Elora
- Antaria: Former centre of the Eloran world. Almost entirely Primic. Extreme corruption ruins otherwise powerful economy. Negative population growth poses a critical problem. Recently democratic. Constitutional monarchy. Somewhat out of the way location in the World War left the nation largely untouched and in a good position to capitalize on the post-War world.
- Arrèdux: Large city state that seceded from Bouia in the mid-1850s over irreconcilable differences between the larger Bouian people (see Divorce of Bouia) and the city folk. At the time, one of the world's biggest and most cultured cities. Retains this reputation today. Major economic centre for Elora. Neutral, although occupied by Bouians during the World War. More liberal than their northern neighbours.
- Bouia: Influential power since the fall of the Antarii. Major coloniser with Islonia. Mostly Primic. Leader amongst the Estterre states. Lost influence after World War, due to defeat and infrastructural damage. Large immigrant population causing friction. Excellent economy suffering from a lack of growth and high unemployment. Strong democratic traditions dating back to its Revolution. Overall liberal but Primic traditions give policy a sheen of conservatism. Capital moved to Courams after secession of Arredux.
- Duteshlund: Major Ryndorian nation. Formented the growth of pan-Ryndorianism that led to the World War. Only recently and artificially created out of several constituent states. Strong, efficient workforce has given the Dutesh a strong economy - one of the world's most powerful. Typical western democratic state. Inherited mantle from Geressia.
- Greater Islonia: One of Tela's greatest powers. Hugely influential on history. Primarily Resistic with large Amkali and Argan populations. Won World War. Massive industrial complex. Recently dismantled empire. Most colonies now independent. Multi-cultural society. Still holds an important place on the world scene, if diminished in importance. The original constitutional monarchy, with the system dating back centuries.
- Ishayu: Expansive almost-empire. Claims to be the rightful homeland of the Jisruel people. Theocratic state. Occupies medium-sized chunk at the southern extreme of Elora and has an exclave in Rosalic Nafrea (Nafrean Jisruelia). Almost entirely of the Jisru faith but Nafrean exclave hosts many Morhisi Amkalis. Militaristic and extremely aggressive. Spread mostly conservate. Strong democracy. Reasonable economy.
- Lesser Islonia: Counterpart of Greater Islonia. Small farming nation until recent growth has exploded the economy. Extremely rapid growth has led to extreme increse in wealth. Modern, diverse nation with a high standard of living. Immigration low but expected to increase. Huge conflict between Resistic and Primic has dominated politics in recent years. Was once part of Greater Islonia but has since seceded. Names derived from Antarii names for provinces.
- Rovhabia: Extremely rich nation. Tiny coastal city-state wedged between Bouia and Duteshlund. Mostly Ryndorian and mostly Primic. Set up after the War of Words in part by Greater Islonia who swore to protect it. Invasion by Ryndorian Alliance in 1931 sparked World War.
- Utlod: More calm and less aggressive counterpart of Ishayu. Neighbours Ishayu. More well liked internationally. Secular, makes no claims of Jisru homeland. Jisru and Jisruel dominated nonetheless. English speaking. Stronger economy and greater respect for civil liberties than Ishayu. No Nafrean exclave. Fought against Ishayu in World War.
- Varraturis: Medium-sized Castalian nation. Extremely liberal. Entirely Primic. Economic prowess has increased without bounds since end of the World War (fought with Alliance) and rise of democracy. Heavily devolved, possibly moving to a split, spawning more genero-Castalian states.
- Vrelaaghus: Small, rich and extremely liberal nation. Major naval power during the colonisation of the rest of the world. Built extensive trade networks. Massively atheist, rest split between Primic and Resistic. Large immigrant population causes friction.
- Wålddee: Liberal and democratic nation with democratic traditions dating back centuries. Mostly Resistic. Fierce neutrality protected by a well armed and well trained populace. Loose confederacy of tiny forest city-states in the hills. Inhabited mostly by Islon with some Bouian Ryndorians taking up space. The two give nation an interesting blend of cultures. Well known for its banking system which is used as a gateway for money laundering. Has a unique system of property laws, a well-established history of public education and multiple de facto currencies (only one de jure currency) based on the central banks of the former city-states.

[edit]
Generic Svridian
- Para-Scandinavia. Capitalist welfare states verging on socialism. Modern economies built off whaling, fishing, oil and gas. Network together but yet to integrate well with the continent. Armed neutrality maintained through 19th and 20th century wars. Fairly liberal.
[edit]
Hydrosia
- Fairbank: Rich. Somewhat white, somewhat Ngyana nation. Strong cultural ties to Greater Islonia and Ngyana heritage creates interesting hybrid. Strong democratic tradition. Economy based in agriculture. Officially a constitutional monarchy with a legally separate monarchy to Islonia (in reality, it is the same).
- New Uxandons: Typical Hydrosian nation. Some ethnic tension between immigrant and natives and within native groups caused by tribalism. Relatively poor and dependent on cash crops for income. Almost entirely Ciophist. Mixed economy with democratic traditions. Government is prone to overthrow by competing interests, typically the military.
- Pandiania: More white people, more land and richer than Fairbank. Most diverse economy in Hydrosia, with strong banking and materials sectors. Republican movement abundant. Strong democratic traditions with a constitutional monarchy (same system as Fairbank).
- Pipāhua: Constitutional monarchy. Impoverished. Limited democracy but pro-dem movement gaining momentum. Tightening on rights has not been popular. Monarch appears unwilling to relinquish power. Covers much of a large island.
- Tiago Island: Socialist republic in the middle of capitalist mixed economies. Faces persecution from Pandiania, Fairbank and much of the west. Has third highest standard of living in the region, building up from next to nothing. Led by charismatic leader, the dictatorship is somewhat popular, although Tiago expats in Fairbank and Pandiania claim otherwise. Severe restrictions on political and some social rights.
[edit]
Generic Hydrosian
- Para-Pacific. Similar to New Uxandons.
- Djirutiae
- Gātoak (absurdist surreal nation)
- Helderia
- Oakley Islands
- Tàrre Gaepānei
- Wīrehō
[edit]
Kanelara
- Dhilba: Massive nation with long history. Previously colonised by Islon. Adopted their traditions of democracy, law and order and capitalism and gives it a distinctly Inhi twist. Mildly socialist. Poor but using huge population to develop toward first world standards. Much of the world's resources headed Dhilban way. Some conflict between native Arga religion and Amkalism.
- Inhistan: Extremely large Amkalist state. Fundamentally religious on all levels. Makes pretenses of being pro-Western. Democratic. Impoversihed. Big conflict with neighbouring Dhilba. Both almost destined to take conflict to nuclear level.
[edit]
Nafrea
- Burugo: Nation on the verge of riches. Has vast oil fields and is ready to take control of them but corruption and political divides make the future less certain. Democracy is steady but not flourishing and much of the population is impoverished. Former Islon colony.
- Hoitanola and Kulatia: Two Monmerecon states constantly at war with each other over ethnic issues. The former is a Hoitanu state while the latter is Kulat. Populations and economies on both sides have been decimated. Children are enlisted to fight. Both nations shockingly poor and corrupt democracy rules.
- Rokoland: Small nation enveloped by Sur Nafrea. One of the richer and more progressive states of Nafrea. Led by stable and non-corrupt democratic government. Severely affected by HIV/AIDS. Disease could bring the state's brilliant recovery down. Healthcare is reasonably good standard and attempts to fight HIV.
- Sur Nafrea: Medium sized nation. Rich by Nafrean standards, middle class by the rest of the world's. Formerly a Husian then an Varraturis colony. Both nations looking for gold and diamonds - industries which still prop up the nation. Rife with racial tension between the usually much richer white and the poorer blacks. Crime is huge. Nonetheless, a leader of Nafrean states.
- Theiza: Small nation in north. By far the poorest nation on Tela. Has a history that stretches back millenia. One of the first great civilisations. Has retained traditions and culture little changed since the decline of the civilisation long before AD. Refuses to modernise to standards of ancient times, let alone the modern era. Geography prevents rivals from effectively attacking the nation, except when occupied by the Dutesh during the last two centuries. Is able to defend itself with bronze weaponry. Somewhat democratic, although more interested in what the god-king has to say.
[edit]
Generic Theocracies
- Para-Mid East. Insanely theocratic Rosal nations (both Amkalist and Ciophist) whose goals are focussed on the destruction of the others and rigid enforcement of their religious beliefs. Barely democratic and at varying levels of economic success. Nafrean Jisruelia pisses them all off.
[edit]
Generic Emirates
- Para-Dubai. Tiny city-states rich with oil. On northern coast of Nafrea. Conservative by global standards but liberal by Amkalist standards. Quickly modernising. Both in competition with each other as to who can gain most global attention and develop faster.
[edit]
Generic Poor States
- Para-Africa. Could represent anyone of the myriad of third world nations.
[edit]
North Alondia
- Bapenne: Largely an agrarian nation with large fields of cotton and tobacco and relatively little industrialisation (except in the textile industry). Somewhat poorer than its neighbours. Small white population heavily reliant on massive Nafrean and Cilabite slave population for economic success. Racial segregation is enforced in all parts of society, and has been enshrined in the nation's constitution (as has slavery). Federalist leanings, largely Resistic Ciophist and very conservative/religious. Bapenne has a strong military and has very sour relations with most of the other Affolk States, especially New Danmont and Ettawts; it holds close ties only to Motris and New Yujave. Bapenne has remained fiercely independent and isolationist, and maintains chilly relations with all Alondian nations, particularly Catarica and New Danmont.
- Catarica: Multicultural and former Islon colony, Catarica is one of the world's most affluent nations. With a medium sized population and excellent natural resources at its disposal, Catarica maintains one of the world's highest standard of living. However, it is dependent on trade with the Affolk States. Catarica is liberal and pacifist, and tends to have warm relations with most of the Alondian nations.
- Dalbay: Sparsely populated though wealthy ocean-front nation in upper Bapine region. In a similar vein to Svridia, much of the nation's income is generated through fishing and gas production. One of the least industrialised nations in North Alondia means the environment is maintained in relatively pristine condition, giving rise to a strong tourism industry. Similarly, a large portion of the energy is generated through renewable means. Mostly white Eloran and reasonably progressive. Dalbay has in the past been occupied by New Danmont and Lyfrens. Today it is heavily influenced by the politics and policies of New Danmont, which is the only nation to border Dalbay.
- Ettawts: An environmentally conscious nation with strong socially liberal tendencies. More capitalist than its western neighbors in New Danmont and more regulatory than its southern neighbors in Oladia. Eastern Ettawts tends to be more libertarian, and is less populated and more mountainous. Ettawts gets along well with most of Alondia.
- Kotiach: A cold, sparsely populated and poor island nation. Industry heavily centered on oil production.
- Lyfrens: Contrasting against Catarica's Islon heritage and natural resources is its neighbours Lyfrens' Bouian heritage and industrialisation. High technology, particularly aerospace, and IT are key industries. The only Bouianophone nation in North Alondia, Lyfrens is a cultural anamoly which maintains many of its ties to the mother nation in Bouia. Home to many non-Islon Elorans (mostly Ryndorian and Olander), the population is overwhelmingly Primic (contrasted against Catarica's Resisticism) and often described as a cross between Alondia and Elora. Lyfrens has at the same time a strong democratic socialist tradition and a powerful conservative base.
- Motris: Very much a sister state to Bapenne, although slightly more moderate. Its closer proximity to New Yujave and higher level of industrialisation makes slavery irrelevant, and the practice was made illegal several years ago. Lanitas, Cilabites, Nafreans, etc segregated from the white Eloran population. However, the influence of Lanita culture on Motris is noticeable. A mix of Primic and Resistic Ciophists, divided mostly by ethnicity, as conservative and more federalist than the people of Bapenne. It benefits from its oil reserves, and while it is traditionally isolationist, it maintains warm relations with most of southern Alondia. It strongly opposes the policies of New Danmont however, and is seen as a balance along with Bapenne to New Danmont influence in Affolk.
- Nalbans: An almost city-state that was left relatively untouched by the effects of the Alondian Civil War. Nonetheless, it was isolated as neither New Danmont nor Bapenne could reach an agreement over who had sovereignty. One of the world's leading centres for culture, economics and politics, Nalbans City is often considered the North Alondian equivalent of Arredux. Melting pot of ethnicities, religions and cultures. Large part of the population is transitory. A high crime rate has come down in recent years but retains a reputation as a center for international organised crime. Nalbans won its independence as a radical commune in the nineteenth century, but it has sense liberalized and is today an economic powerhouse thanks to its strongly capitalist foundations. Nalbans is a socially liberal country that is more internationalist than many other Alondian states, and it maintains close relations with northern Affolk and the Bapine nations. Nalbans borders New Danmont and Bapenne, and has historically worked poorly with both nations, although it has a more friendly conflict with New Danmont and a more real dislike for Bapenne.
- New Danmont: The largest of the Affolk nations both in population and area. It has a strong economy and a diverse work force, with industry on the coast (along with fishing) and farms to the east. It regularly conflicts with Bapenne, Motris and Lyfrens over continental supremacy. It remains friendly with Catarica, Oldaia and Ettawts. New Danmont is the most regulatory of all the Alondian states, and its populace is strongly in favor of a large government which maintains a powerful welfare state. Although its regulatory politics have kept it from establishing itself as an economic powerhouse, it is one of the most internationalist and interventionist states in North Alondia.
- New Yujave: With a strong Lanita population, New Yujave is the most powerful of the nations colonized by Varraturis, which isn't saying much. It suffers from serious corruption and poverty. Its people are religious (Primic mostly) and conservative, although economically they are more radical than the Alondian nations to the north. New Yujave has long tried to begin a process of industrialization that would reinvigorate its economy, which today is in (relative) shambles. It exists in the shadows of the Affolk States.
- Oladia: Oladia is the most socially liberal of all the nations in Alondia. It is an economic powerhouse, and its people are very diverse, representing almost every nation on Tela. It is highly urbanized and wealthy, as well as capitalist, and its location on the east coast makes it an irresistible tourist attraction.
- Ukpea: Overwhelmingly dominated by its Iklisi population. Ukpea still has its Iklisi tribal family which rules the nation as a sort of kingdom. Ukpea is very poor but may have undiscovered oil reserves.
[edit]
Generic East Islands
- Para-Caribbean. Two nations who were colonised by the Islon and Husians as a stepping stone to access Varras' empire in Alondia. Known for sugar plantations, slavery and white rums. Native populations annihilated by white colonisation. Netria, in particular, benefits from tourism and "interesting" banking laws.
[edit]
Generic Onara
- Para-Central America. Poor states with small populations of natives and majority Eloran-native mixes. Dominated by the Varras during their colonial existence, histories span thousands of years. Largely untouched by World War, power seesaws between socialism and capitalism, almost always presidential dictatorships either way. Current concerns include high unemployment, growing involvement in the South Alondian drug trade and increasing urban crime.
[edit]
Qia
[edit]
Kiznyls
- Para-Balkans. Eastern nations who abhor each other. Small states. War frequent. Poor as dirt.
- Veghokozkia: Primic Kozak nation (hated by all others).
- Albostia: Rectic Kozak nation (hated by #1, #5, #6).
- Gosseria: Rectic Kozak nation (hated by #1, #4, #5, #6).
- Buvjostia: Rectic Kozak nation (hated by #1, #3, #5, #6).
- Dynamvo: Amkali Kozak nation (hated by all others).
- Kyrnistan: Amkali Myrztkz nation (hated by all others).
- Nantgregro: One tiny autonomous melting pot, where civil wars never stop.
[edit]
Kozakia
- Eastern nations who have no specific animosity toward one another.
- Burovsko: Illiberal democracy further west, borders with Pycha. Incredibly pro-Pycha and dismissive of the Elorans. Majority Kozak, majority Rectic.
- Peknovsko: Western democracy at the east of Qia, torn between Kozak and Eloran mindset. Very homogenous, majority Kozak, majority Primic. Socially conservative.
- Pycha: Ex-communist illiberal democracy, spans the west to the east along the north of Qia, the biggest (in area) and baddest nation on Tela. Extremely varied demographics. Made up of Kozaks (east), Myrztkz (central), Iklisi and Shix'i (west). Majority Rectic, but lots of Amkalis.
- Sorobsko: Pro-Eloran western democracy at the very east of Qia, shuns most Qians and considers themselves Eloran. Extremely liberal by Qia standards, centrist by others. Very homogenous in race and religion. Majority Kozak, majority Primic Ciophism.
- Tyurjema: Ex-Pychan penal colony. Hardasses abundant. Recently independent and democratic.
- Urolomsko: Illiberal democracy near Burovsko, borders with Pycha. Western half is very pro-Pycha, eastern half is very pro-Eloran. Majority Kozak, split between Primic and Rectic.
- Wallaria: Western democracy Kozak/Olander nation. Speaks a Olander dialect. Has moderately decent relations with Kozak neighbours, very poor relations with Malyoko Republika. Socially conservative, like almost all east Qian nations. Majority Rectic. Established by Rectic runaways from Antarii Dominion. Spent time shortly after engaging in democratic nobility (ie. Peasants voted for their nobles. Nobles could rule but not vote. Justice system/military kept both in check).
[edit]
Myrztkzistan
- Malyoko: Western democracy Myrztkz nation surrounded by Wallaria and many Kozak nations. Was once an empire which controlled all neighbouring nations, in part or in whole. Intensely hated by all of them. Shuns Western Qia and emulates Eloran democracy. Majority Primic but with a very very large athiest minority.
- Para-CIS. Nations hanging around Myrztkz Mountains. Excepting Malyoko, split of the the United Socialist Myrztkz Republics (USMR, contrasted against the United Socialist Pychan Republic, or USPR. Former was a puppet state of the latter) has spawned these nations. Brief period of dictatorial, totalitarian and theocractic rule has given way to some democracy by the 1960s.
- Atagzkstan: Theocracy, Amkali, hates Pycha.
- Garzenistan: Dictatorship, Amkali, waveringly loyal to Pycha.
- Jikmenia: Illiberal Democracy, Amkali, waveringly loyal to Pycha.
- Kabekia: Totalitarian Dictatorship, Athiest rule, Amkali population, very loyal to Pycha.
- Kyzgia: Dictatorship, Amkali, loyal to Pycha.
- Oruzistan: Illiberal Democracy, Amkali, loyal to Pycha.
[edit]
Western
- Para-Asiatic.
- Hurşiye: Ethnic melting pot, containing large Slaam-Morhisi, Olander and Kozak populations - mostly Amkali, some Ciophist though. Occupies southern part of western continent and has been a gateway for conquest and trade for centuries. Democracy is tenuous with coups frequent, as is genocide. The most secular of Amkali states, Hursiye still remains relatively careless with human rights. Looks to integrate with other, more affluent nations despite geographical differences.
- Pygo'kea and Suo'kea: Two agrarian and jungle-infested nations that were formerly a part of the larger island of Kea. A frequent target for Shawanji invasions, both nations have been split by ideological differences: Suo is communist, Pygo is capitalist. A large war, involving small forces from powers across the world in the post-World War years, resulted in a stalemate for the revolutionaries. Economic levels are relatively even between the two, though the isolation of Suo could mean it drops away quickly in the race to modernise.
- Siniha: Massive socialist state whose population rivals that of Dhilba. Has an extensive history dating back thousands of years. Has been the leading edge in sciences and arts but, as was the case with much of Shix'i Qia, maintained a splendid isolation from the outside world. Turmoil in recent centuries, including two major civil wars, has broken the state down and harmed its ability to stay in front. Dictatorial control over culture, agriculture and politics has cost many lives but maintained Sinihan independence. Recent modernisation and huge economic growth indicates a brighter future.
- Shawan: Old Shix'i state. Populous and current leader in technology and, more generally, scientific progress. Economic powerhouse that has recently fallen on hard times. Its history has been dominated by self-imposed isolation until it was forced to open its gates. Since then, rapid modernisation has taken Shawan from a Qian backwater to a world leader. Maintained imperial ambitions during early modern history and fought with the Alliance during the World War. Subsequent defeat led the people to vow only to maintain a military for self-defence. Population mostly Neisei and some Avanyashi. Note: Nationality of Shawan is Shawanji; Language is Shawango.
- Uohebet: Seceding in the second civil war of Siniha after enforced atheism went awry, Uohebet consists of mountains and followers of Avanyashi. While non-violence is preached in Avanyashi, the population remains well-armed and this fact, along with its geography, protect both Uohebet and Zhonren from Siniha invasion. Monarchy of the area was re-established upon independence, though recent leaders have been unpopular and minorities of independent (not associated with Siniha) socialists, republicans and unionist (with Siniha) socialists have been loud in their criticism of the King.
- Ulongland: Nation of nomadic animal herders that has changed little in several hundred years. Poor by modern economic standards but rich in culture. Sits on the western side of Myrztkistan. Has been dominated by neighbours for many years. Democracy established but is of little importance to the people. Sparsely populated.
- Yandesia: Mostly Dishisi and Amkali nation. Massive population sits at the bottom of western Qia. Kingdom with limited but young democracy. Cities in the nation are becoming increasingly important influences on the global economy but much of the rural areas remain little changed in the last few centuries. Never colonised by an Eloran power. Corrupt police and military can get out of control.
- Zhonren: A small, almost city-state nation. Populated largely by escapee anti-revolutionaries from Siniha. Currently the well-armed and mountainous Uohebet and international pressure keeps them at bay. Democracy is new to the nation but welcome. Economy has gained a lead on the competing Siniha economy and is a centre for manufacturing electronics and all manner of cheap crap.
